The Sierra Student Coalition just got a jolt of espresso! This year, we were chosen as a recipient of Starbucks’ Shared Planet Youth Action Grants. Besides supporting our work, Starbucks is also hoping we can actively help them meet their goals for tackling climate change and increasing community involvement… by directly involving them in our campaign activities!
Involving Starbucks in our campaign activities is a win-win deal. Starbucks furthers its environmental stewardship and community involvement goals, we tap into Starbucks’ resources to enhance our work… AND the more we engage, the more likely it is we will continue to receive support for our work in the future!
Here are 3 simple ways to involve Starbucks in our work:
Volunteer Power: Through their Make Your Mark program, Starbucks has a goal of contributing 1 million volunteer hours a year by 2015, and they are eager to find ways to provide various volunteer opportunities to their Partners (aka employees). Plus, each hour contributed generates additional funds for the Sierra Student Coalition!
Store Power: Need a place to host planning meetings? Starbucks may be the answer. Each store has a budget for donations and can provide both space and goodies for your meetings. Also, you can use their community board to promote campaign events and volunteer opportunities.
Here’s all you’ve got to do:
Contact the Store Managers for all Starbucks stores in your area, and ask them if they’d like to support your campaign activities – use the above suggestions, or think up your own.
First, get a list of your local stores
