On more than 600 campuses across the US and Canada, students are working to transform their campuses into models of sustainability by passing climate neutrality, efficiency, transportation, green building, and clean energy policies. A project of more than 40 leading non-profits, the Campus Climate Challenge has secured hundreds of victories since its launch in 2005.
The Campus Climate Challenge has two major components. First, groups running the Challenge work to pass aggressive climate policies and show the public what is possible. Every time we convince our schools to use 100% clean energy, we push the envelope. Through savvy use of the media, students challenge the public and elected officials to follow their leadership.
Second, Challenge campaigns educate our fellow students about global warming solutions. In just a few years, our generation will be teaching, running businesses, and electing leaders. By engaging our peers in global warming solutions now, we will be able to implement those solutions much sooner.
